NEW YORK, March 27, 2013 – Global public relations leader Porter Novelli announced today that Fred Shank has joined the New York office as senior vice president in the consumer practice.
“Fred has considerable experience in bridging the worlds of brand and corporate public relations,” said Darlàn Monterisi, executive vice president, managing director of Porter Novelli’s New York office, and to whom Shank will report. “He offers a deep, strategic understanding of how to create dialogues between brands and organizations and their individual stakeholder groups, a non-negotiable skill in today’s highly fragmented communications environment.”
Shank joins Porter Novelli from Edelman, where he spent nearly four years as a vice president, providing strategic and account leadership on the HEINEKEN USA, Starbucks, Kraft and Citi businesses. Prior to Edelman, Fred spent more than four years with Whole Foods Market as its director of public relations and public affairs for the Northeast, North Atlantic and Mid-Atlantic regions.
Earlier in his career Shank spent two years as public information officer with Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund, developing strategy and messaging, as well as conducting media relations, for a range of its litigation and education programming. Shank began his career holding account management and media relations positions with SFX Entertainment, Octagon Marketing and Fresno State Sports Information.
