GroupMe (http://groupme.com/), the popular group texting app, which allows users to send and receive text messages, share pictures, location and set up conference calls, has announced this week the launch of Featured Groups.
Through Featured Groups, brands can create their own groups, which work like regular GroupMe chats, and send messages to group members. This is a key opportunity for brands to share news, launches, marketing messages, tips catered to topic -centric communities. The Featured Groups will show up as suggested conversation topics once users and friends create a group around these topics. Brands already taking advantage of the GroupMe’s new feature are Oxygen Media, MTV, Bon Jovi, Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival and Coachella. Oxygen’s TV show “Bad Girls Club” and the upcoming Paris Hilton show “The World According To Paris.”
