What’s happening in the online conversation around Cannes? We took a look at conversation trends around the festival of creativity to understand what was driving discussion and buzz. Here’s what we found:
As a channel, Twitter unsurprisingly dominates the conversation around Cannes. This is consistent with last year, as Cannes Twitter tends to be the platform to win for brands aiming to rule the online dialogue.
Imported celebrities are the kings of the retweet, with Nick Jonas leading, followed by Malcom Gladwell and Jonah Lehrer. It seems that the strategy of bringing in celebrities of interest to Cannes, whether they are part of the larger discussion or not, is working on a purely numbers basis – but the Jonas data point is likely skewed by offsite followers who are well known syndicators of virtually ANY Jonas related content.
Since 6/17, conversation has shifted from a focus on planning and nominated campaigns towards content coming out of the seminars and personal experiences of Cannes.
