News Feed FYI: What the Reactions Launch Means for News Feed

PNConnect Insight – It sounds like, at least at first, the impact on pages will be a new variety of options for people to choose from when offering their feedback. That’s to give Facebook time to suss out what exactly people mean when they’re using these new reaction options. But it’s safe to assume a wide range of choices *will* eventually impact pages differently as the Newsfeed algorithm learns how people are using each one.

PNConnect Insight – For the user base, this is a great new outlet. The Snapchat community is exceptionally creative, with Snapchat’s focus on doodles and the already available filters. This is another way for users to express themselves, especially around specific events like parties. Imagine someone creating a custom filter for a baby shower she’s attending — that could be a lot of fun.
For Snapchat it harnesses users’ creativity, making the platform a bit more attractive and “sticky” for the users while also bringing in $5 (or more) for each execution. One might wonder how Snapchat advertising sales are doing if it’s looking for micropayments like this and the $.99 replay option it offers; at the very least, Snapchat is looking for income to supplement its ad revenue.
