Global public relations agency Porter Novelli (PN) recently announced the appointment of Albert Chan as managing director of Porter Novelli Greater China. Based in Beijing, Chan will be responsible for talent management and the strategic growth of the agency’s Greater China operations, reporting to Angie Schneider, president, Asia Pacific Region.
Chan brings to his new role more than 18 years of marketing and communications experience across Hong Kong, mainland China and Taiwan.
“Today, Greater China is the world’s most dynamic economy and is fast becoming one of the biggest players in the global business market. I am very excited to take on this new role at Porter Novelli, a world-class firm with more than 40 years of experience in bringing value to clients, while embracing entrepreneurship and innovation,” said Chan. “I look forward to working with international clients, helping them to understand the business landscape in Greater China, while simultaneously helping Chinese companies grow and expand globally.”
Before taking this role, Chan was a senior vice president at Ogilvy in China and head of the WPP Team Dell of Greater China for eight years. He spent time at Omnicom sister agency Ketchum, where his work on the Asia Pacific leadership committee during the 2008 Olympics led to a Clio Award for the Lenovo brand campaign. His client roster included Royal Mail Group, FedEx, Lenovo, Dell, Bank of America, Western Digital, Citrix, Twitter, Singapore Tourism Board, Uber, OtterBox, and Analog Devices Inc. as well as several successful start-ups in China.
“As we look to grow multinational as well as local clients in the dynamic China market, we need sophisticated leadership combined with an innovative approach to develop and drive new initiatives forward,” said Schneider. “Albert brings these skills and more to our teams, and we are thrilled to have him on board.”
